Muxed MPEGs (also known as multiplexed MPEGs) contain both sound tracks and video tracks in a single file.

In QuickTime, one can export the video to another format, but in doing so, one always looses the audio track. There is no way to export the audio track that I am aware of. Does anyone know ?

I am looking for a software solution... I know I could record the sound on a cassette player and then re-import the whole thing back as a sound track in QuickTime. But that solution is very costly in terms of sound quality...

I'd just want to add... These are MPEG1 files according to QuickTime, and bbDEMUX doesn't seem to like them (it doesn't do anything : it simply quits).

i tried MPEG split and though I could get the audio separate from the video, the video doesn't seem to play with QT anymore. Also, the audio still cannot be exported into another format, unfortunately. I'm guessing this feat will go beyond using shareware.
