Poor capture quality using FCP

I just got the canon zr10 and have been capturing my footage in FCP. However the quality is really bad, I'm completly new at this so any advice would be a huge help.

that is because you are viewing the compressed files. export it back to your camera and you'll see a big difference.

No. He's viewing a thumbnail of the files. If they were uncompressed you wouldn't exactly see anything that makes sense.

In preferences you can choose either quality or speed, in quality mode you'll get the full rez but at only about 10 frips. Nothings perfect. Either but not both. Classic online/offline trade-off.
