Before I decide to buy a camcorder and a mac with firewire I would like to play with some imovie tutorial footage. Is there any place where I can download it or buy a CD ROM with some footage?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to understand what your talking about. What do you plan on trying it on? If your using a friends mac, you could use his imovie CD. It has a tutorial including media.

I own a mac but without firewire. iMovie is included in the Mac OS X installer CD and that is the way I got it. Thus I do not have the original iMovie CD with the tutorial footage (which apparently was only release with the first version of iMovie).

Is there any place where I could get or buy the iMovie CD with the tutorial footage or is there any other way to get some footage to play with?

If you don't have access to any digital video, then I suggest the following:

You're MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, should you choose to accept it...

1) get one or two CD-R discs
2) go to your local Mac computer store
3) go to the Mac that has a connected, working camcorder
4) hopefully, the Mac will have a CD-RW drive
5) use iMovie and the camcorder and shoot some footage in the store
6) burn the file onto your CD-R discs
7) go home and use the files on your Mac

Mission Accomplished.

OR, find someone on these forums who will put some of their DV footage on their iTools public download folder, so you can download and use it. (sorry, i don't have a DV camcorder either)
