here's a pretty weird problem. i was using final cut pro 1.2 on a g4/500 with 512MB (400 allocated to fcp), OS9.0. i imported a clip from a sony trv-10 dv camera, and it was fine. then, i tried to get a clip in from a hi-8 camera using a sony da-2 converter. the camcorder had a lanc port, so i decided to connect it. final cut pro was able to control the camera, but when it came time to import the video, it grumbled there was no timecodes. then, i decided to have final cut pro let me control the camera. so that worked for importing. BUT, there was no sound. and when i went back to look at the dv clip, there was no sound in it either. any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that there is a known problem using the second generation DVMC with FCP. Do a search at either 2-pop.com or postforum and you will find more information.
