I certainly plan on getting a "Cleaner MPEG Supercharger" ($999) to accelerate MPEG encoding up to 10x, the Matrox RTMac ($999) real-time FinalCutPro board whenever Apple gets around to releasing FinalCutPro2 (grrr saw this board at Macworld NY2000 and am very hungry for it) and possibly a WiredStream card ($499) for MPEG playback of all kinds ...

Now, will the seeming advantage of the dual 533's be relevant with that setup? Probably not ... I'd be shelling out $999 for the external firewire DVD-R drive anyway ... The price differential isn't so great at a VAR like Powermax (Dual 533 for $2999 - with an xtra 60GB drive - vs. 733/Superdrive for $3400)

After pouring through the forums here, I had to do a lot of soul-searching about the decision ... but I **think** I'm going to stay with the 733/Superdrive ...

Unless I'm missing something ;-)

Well, the only consideration is the dual procs - I'd take the dually personally.
I think...
The 733 is sweet but nothing is optimised for it yet.
Take whatever works out cheaper with the SuperDrive.
