I looked at it some more at Best Buy. It's a nice camera. It doesn't say whether the image stabilization is optical or electronic. Since Canon says "Optical Image Stabilization" on it's other models, and not this one, I'll assume it is electronic. I bit the bullet and got the Canon Elura instead. All I can say is "WOW!"
The optical stabilization makes a huge difference, and progressive scan mode is worth the price. Your footage looks more like film than video. You can find the Elura at MacMall for about 1299.00. Even at almost twice the cost of the ZR10, it's worth it.

I've borrowed my co-workers for a 20 minute project using iMovie on my b/w G3. The camera is great, but I don't have a lot of experience with other cameras.
It works well with iMovie. No problems getting clips or pushing the movie back to the camera.
The size is what I like the most. The only down side is that the ports for power, Firewire and such are located all over the place. Kind of looks like the overloaded extension cord you'ld see a Christmas.
To me, it seams that Canon put a lot into the quality and less in the number of features - no smart media/memory stick, no zero light features...which is just fine for me.

I was looking at the ZR10 for a starter camera. Here in Canada it was $1300. I liked how small/light it was and figured it be a good first camera.
I got talked out real quickly though into the Elura. The Elura up here was only $600 more and it has an RGB filter, Progressive Scan mode (VERY sweet) and the optical image stabilizer. It's worth it to save if you can.
I suggest you look into the Elura if the ZR10 caught your eye, and read some magazines, or maybe a buyers guide.
Also, check http://www.apple.com/firewire/ to make sure the camera is compatible!
Good luck!
