I want to use imovie but I can't unless I change the resolution on 17" Multiscan Apple monitor and it won't change. I recently got a G4 and plugged the monitor in with an adapter and it works fine except for this resolution bugaboo. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Do I need upgraded monitor software or another adapter or what? I'm anxious to use the imovie software. thanks very much.

According to the Apple specifications on your monitor, you can go up to 1024 x 768.
Please give more details. What Mac model are you using? What system software version? What happens when you select a different resolution?
If the Monitor control panel shows "show recommended" in the Resolutions pane, toggle it to "show all". Then choose 800 x 600 @ 60Hz or 75Hz. You should also be able to choose 832 x 624 @ 75Hz or 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz or 75Hz.
