Hi all,
I've got a PC desktop with 80GB of MP3s on it at the moment but want to move it all over to a Mac.
I want something which will give me good sound quality (it'll all be going into either headphones or a pretty decent stereo) and be essentially silent while it does so. My SCSI drives in my PC chug loudly constantly as it is...and Windows doesn't make copying and playing my music nearly as pleasant as it could
I've heard a report of the titanium powerbooks being noisy when they've got a Firewire device plugged into them, and since there's currently no other way of getting 80GB (with more to come, undoubtedly) of music into a Powerbook without something of this sort it seems like it's either that or a cube. I don't NEED the portability of the laptop, but I definitely don't want something as bulky as a full G4 tower either. Speed isn't too much of an issue, but I need to be running Photoshop at home as well.
Ideally this will all happen on OS X, since I want a system that is both silent and elegant to use (main reasons for the change), but that's by the by, I guess.
I'm rambling, I'll post this now and hope someone can be of any help. I'd imagine there're are a lot of other people doing similar things to this...
Thanks in advance,
Ben
