itunes 2 makes my computer run laggy-ish.

	600 mhz imac 512 MB ram OS 9.1 when i run itunes 2 (which i love btw), it seems to be the main cause of the rest of my apps and whatnot running laggy. when it goes to the next song or if im clicking things in the app itself to change a song title or whathaveyou, it kinda sticks for a minute then starts going again. i have a crapload of memory and it happens whether or not i have 2 programs up or 10. anyone have any suggestions? i have like 6 gigs of MP3s in there, is that part of the problem?
