digital audio to Firewire converter

I was once again tearing my hair out trying to make an Opcode DATport work with in a new G4 with OS 9 and the multimedia update to no avail. I thought that I would much rather get an s/pdif to firewire converter, or even aes/ebu to firewire. I can't say I have heard of anyone making this, anyone have a lead?
