I have the Canon Elura MiniDV Camcorder and iMovie. I just created my first movie. I was wondering if I can export the movie to VHS? How can I do this? Do I have to record the editted Movie back to the Elura and then to my VHS? Please help. Thanks

yeppers. unless you buy an expensive DV converter from Sony, you have to export to the camera then record it to VHS.

It is my understanding that the whole edited movie is not on my HD. And that I need the camara with the tape connected to view my edited movie. If this is true then how do I record back to the MiniDV tape that's in use? I'm not sure if this is correct, could you please expalin further? Thanks

my iMovie knowlage is limited (i use FCP, AE). I do belive that iMovie DOES capture all clips to HD, so you can export to the camera.

iMovie saves all your clips to the Hard Drive. Once you stop importing, you no longer need the camera connected.
However, they are correct; you need to export your movie back to your Elura, then to VHS, or invest $399.00 in a Sony Digital Converter.
By the way, how do you like the Elura? I was considering one.

I absolutely love it! Great quality (video, as well as the unit itself) and small enough to fit in a large pocket. I'm starting to carry it everwhere. I had to buy a few extra batteries. They run out pretty quick. And hooking up to my G4 was a snap. No problems.
