Hello!
I have (re-)installed QT5 three times now because I cannot watch (among others) the Starwars trailer. The site keeps telling me to "click here to get the plug-in"...Is there anyone out there who can tell me what's wrong with QT 5 running on MacOS 9.2.1 and a G4DP 500? I don't understand this...
Thank you very much in advance,
TWD

Which size are you trying to view? The download page does say that Quicktime 5 Pro is required for the Large version only. I guess with the small and medium versions you don't have to have registered Quicktime 5. Anyway I have no problem with any of the sizes in OS 8.6 and QT 5 Pro.

Oops. That link doesn't seem to work. But I got to that page just by visiting the Apple Quicktime Trailer page.

Hi nap,
I have both tried small and medium, if I remember correctly only the large version requires a registered QT5 Pro...It just keeps showing the broken image symbol...
Any ideas? Again puzzled

I too am puzzled as to what the problem is. You might try going to the starwars.com web site, although there you do have to register (free) before you can download. However, if you can get things to work there, they do have an amusing "documentary" called "Beneath the Dome" which details the acting career of Artoo Detoo, with appearances by George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Carrie Fisher and others. This is one you can only view, not download. They also have an archive of other videos, some not available elsewhere.

The new trailers use the Sørensen 3 codec and therefore require QuickTime 5.0.2.

Try a custom install and remove all of the QuickTime conponents (you may have to manually remove one or two parts if the intstaller can not). Then run a custom install and perform a full install of all of the QuickTime components. Don't forget to run the QuickTime updater after you reboot just to make sure. You may also want to run software update.
I'm cookoo for Cocoa Apps!
