Hi there. I´m new, so please be kind ;-)

Now to my Problem:
I´m using iMovie 2 and Mac OS X to import DV Video to my Powerbook Pismo 400 MHz.
But after a few seconds the software stops importing and shows up a message about to many dropped frames or something.
And it´s right - when i review my imported video file, there are several skips where it seems that some frames where not recorded.

My question is wether this is a common problem with the performance of Mac OS X on a Pismo or the limiting factor may be my Hard Disk that sometimes makes weird ticking or clicking sounds that it didn't make when it was new!

I would truly appreciate any comments or solutions to this issue!

Thanks in advance,
Michael

hmm, what size/type of hard drive do you have?
is it fragmented (norton speed disk can discover this)?

i only capture from within OS 9, so i can't attest to any problems with iMovie and X. your machine is fast enough, so dropped frames from a digital source shouldn't really be happening.

I'd say its simply a slow OS coupled with slow computer (for running OSX) and a slow HD...

I mean the Pismo is great, but anything less than a G4 just won't cut it...

OS9 is still the way to go for DV and will be for a long time.

I've been using only iMovie for OS X because I don't have iMovie for OS 9, but as far as my experience is I haven't had dropped frames while importing video. When I've finished my movie and trasnferred it back on tape, everything is as smooth as when I first shot the footage. And I'm using the first version iMac DVSE (400Mhz, with RAM upgraded to 384, and I'm still using the original 13 Gig HD!).
