I have a technical question about DV and recording and playback to and from a computer.
A DV tape in a camcorder or other such device records video digitally which means its 1's and 0's or bits of information that can be transferred without reliance on speed of transfer (presumably). Analog video on the other hand can only be played at one speed and to record it to a computer the computer MUST be able to keep up with the flow of information in order to get all of it. It also must convert the information into a form tha computer can use.
With DV does the information coming from a DV tape to a computer slow down if the computer hard drive is going slower than the tape plays back the Digital Video? This is the part I dont understand. With any digital information on a computer the information only flows at the speed of the slowest drive, but there is no degradation in the quality of that information no matter how many copies you make. Is this also true with DV? And does it work both ways?
Any help? Thanx in advance.
