I have a PB Pismo running OS 9.0.4 with firewire and USB.
I'm interested in burning digital Pics (not video) to CD in a format which will allow playing the CD on a DVD/CD player and running a slide show for others to watch. They may not have a computer to do this, so the usual QTime scenario won't do. ( I understand QTime Pro will do this?)
I have seen several programs on the Web which will make slide shows, but they all seem to require playing on a computer.
Anyone?

my suggestion would be experimenting with VCD format using iMovie to create your slideshow and Toast 5 to convert and burn a VCD.

Thanks for your reply.
As I am running 9.0.4 which didn't come with imovie, where can I get imovie compatible with 9.0.4? I don't really want to upgrade (?) to OSX just yet.

From a friend..? Or try this. You need QT Pro and Toast 5. And a CD burner, of course.
1. have all the pics the same size. remember that TVs are <640 x 480 so there's no point in using those huge 1800 x 1200 photo montages you've been creating.

2. open quicktime player. you must have QT Pro. i have 5.0.2 so i know this works at least up till the point where i say 'i haven't done this'.

3. File -> Open Image Sequence. Open up your first pic (only done this with jpegs) (if they're all in the same folder, i think QT will load them all). Select the time delay u want between pics. 10 seconds is a loooong time.

4. drag and drop the rest of your images onto the window. it's at this point you'll notice that if your pics aren't all the same size, QT will scale them and it won't be pretty.

5. Save. Then export to Toast VCD. This will result in a saved *.mpg file and Toast will fire up. the mpg file can be played in QT player. The quality may be somewhat lower than the source photos because of the compression applied.

I haven't done this bit.

6. Burn the CD. (2 lazy2 do it. don't have a dvd player handy. i will next week.)

thanks.
I followed you with QT Pro to the movie which plays on my computer.
But, Toast Titanium won't take the QT movie into the VCD. i get an error message which says that there are no audio files. Duh!
Anyway, the Toast read me file talks about burning iMovies into Video CDs.
I assume then that I must first place the QT movie into iMovie. True?
I do not have iMovie. Guess another purchase is in the future.???
Thoughts?

i grabbed the converted movie (suffix .mpg) and made a VCD with toast 5.0.1 (selected "Other" in the toast buttons up the top). burned it on a CD-R (TDK brand) and it played on a Panasonic DVD player, another brand (can't remember but expen$ive) but not a Samsung that claimed to have CD-R and VCD capabilities. 2 outta 3. so, in summary, i don't know why yours didn't work.

- do you have Toast 5.latest (now 5.0.2)
- are you using QT to do the "export movie to Toast VCD" (i did)
otherwise, i'm stumped

Thanks.
I have a problem which is greater than I thought.
My "movies" consist of one image only. In your last message, I follow through the choice of time delay. Then you say drag and drop the rest of the images onto the window.
What window? I've tried to drag to the first image which comes up, but no success with that. It is clear that when I choose the first image the others are not automatically included in the file.
Now what?
the rest all works as you said. i get the conversion to VCD on the disc.
But, as i said, the movie is of one image only.
I'm missing something here. What?
