Let me preface this post by admitting that I am pathetic.

I'm trying to find a way to get iDVD 2.0 w/o using a credit card. I asked my wife if I could order it, she asked "why", and apparently, "because it looks cool" is not a good reason.

I can hide a cash purchase, but not credit.

Can it be bought at the Apple Stores? User Groups? Anywhere brick and mortar?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

you can only order iDVD2 through the apple store online. i called up the local apple store to ask if i could buy it locally, and the guy i talked to said that in the future, apple may give them some sort of package that has the iDVD2 software (sort of like the 10.1 updates), but he said apple hasn't given the final word yet.

also, here's something i found at the apple store online help page:

---------------------

Cashier’s Check or Money Order
Order by phone by calling 800-MY-APPLE. The cashier’s check or money order must be made payable to APPLE COMPUTER, INC., and must include your order number. Mail your payment to:

Apple Computer, Inc.
2420 Ridgepoint Dr.
M/S 198-BTO
Austin, TX 78754

Personal or business checks are not accepted. Payment must be received within five business days or your order will be canceled. Please allow one business day for payment processing after your payment is received.

Wire Transfer
To pay for your purchase with a wire transfer:
1. Order by phone by calling 800-MY-APPLE.
2. Ask your Apple Store sales agent for the total dollar amount of your purchase, including sales tax and shipping charges.
3. Instruct your bank to transfer the total dollar amount of your purchase, referencing your name and web order number, to:

Apple Computer, Inc. c/o Bank of America-Dallas
Routing Transit (ABA) Number: 111000012
Account Number: 3751294243
Account Type: Lockbox

Please note that this account cannot accept direct deposits. Should your bank representative have any questions, a Bank of America representative for Apple’s account may be reached at 800-577-9473. The cost of wire transfers varies widely; you may want to inquire at your bank before choosing this payment method.

---------------------

and on a side note, i think that it is wrong for your wife to disapprove of buying software 'cos it looks cool. i mean, hasn't she ever bought something simply because it looks nice? like flowers? you can do more with iDVD2 than you can with flowers

good luck

tr

Why don't you have a friend buy it for you that is "Allowed" to use their credit card to charge $20?

You wanna be friends?

Seriously, that's the obvious way to go, thanks.
