Hi. I downloaded several .AVI files from LimeWire (all legal!) and am now trying to play them. Winblows Media Player keeps saying "Invalid file format" or something like that, and QuickTime Player says that a component is missing and is not available on the update server. Is there another .AVI player out there? How can I view these files? Thanks a lot,
Jeremy

The .avi file is just a container file like QuickTime or WAV. You''ll need th know what codec the file uses (Indeo, Cinepak, DivX, etc).

I need that help, too!
Got some files in format "IV41". What is that, how can I see them?

If you were to search the forum you would find more posts on this issue than I would care to count.

Download the Indeo codecs (ALL OF THEM) from http://asu.info.apple.com and install them.

Then go to http://mac.divx.st and download the DivX player, and Windows Media Player 6.3.

Enjoy your "avi's"

Well, but these codecs and some others:
3ivx Delta 3 Codec
Avid Codec
Avid Compressed G4
Avid Uncompressed G4
Indeo® Video
Indeo® Video4
Indeo® Video5
Intel Raw Video
MPG4-DIVX
I've allready tried. They don't work.
Anyone knows some more or a trick how to use them?
