Hello, I wanted to start a thread talking about recording audio in OS X. MIDI is a slightly different topic and something that I currently am not interested in. I only record non-digital instruments into my Mac i.e. electric guitar, piano, and voice. I am a novice at audio recording on my rev A iMac DV/SE but what I've been able to do with Cakewalk's Metro 5 on OS 9.04 has been good enough for me right now.
I have yet to upgrade to OS X final for various reasons. I tried the beta and loved it but haven't gotten around to purchasing the final. The biggest problem I've heard of with OS X is that there is significantly more sound latenecy than OS 9. I went through a period of time where I had OS 9 and OS 8.6 on my machine because the latency in OS 9 was bad compared to 8.6. Then I realized that the reason for this was that processor cycling was turned on in the energy saver control panels.
Has anyone tried recording audio in OS X yet? Is there even an app that will do it natively? If not what about running from classic? From scanning the boards just now I get the impression that there will be some improvements coming this summer.
Please let me know what you think...my guess is that I'll be stuck in 9.1 for awhile for recording audio.
