I have an iMac (cd-rw) 500 mhz, with 576 mb of memory running OS 9.1.

When I use Quicktime 5 Pro the system memory begins to "build up." QT 5 also seems to take longer to launch a movie than did QT 4 - the HD runs a lot while each movie is loading.

I just watched seven video clips of about 3 mb each and now the system memory (which normally seems to run at 50 - 90 mb) is at 493 mb. It will remain this way until I restart.

Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring and how I can prevent it?

Thanks,
Chad

First I would reinstall QT5 then click the application to highlight it and hold down command i the go into the memory settings and adjust the size you want it at.
