Hi,

I've been a huge mac fan for years but have only recently discovered the wonders of iTunes and have been burning my CD collection any chance I get. It's amazing how much of a cd is not burnworthy, but I digress.

My question concerns amplification. Can I hook up my powerbook to a conventional tuner and listen to my collection? What hardware do I need and is there much loss in quality?

Thanks!

I run an 1/8th inch mini-plug to RCA adapter (bought from Radio Shack) from my headphone jack (I have a PowerBook G3) to VCR2 input on my receiver (any unused input will work).

If you encode at 160-192, you won't notice much loss at a moderate volume; at least, I don't.

Any unused input EXCEPT "PHONO". You could fry your turntable preamp if you hook it up there.

Yep, Spheric, I didn't think about that until I saw a similar post in another forum--just came back here to fix it.

make sure the cord is stereo (an extra line 1/4 of the way down the plug sleave. Not all cords are stereo so always be sure to check. Next make sure everything is pluged in ALL THE WAY. I can tell you how many times that little trick has saved me
