I was at my friend's house, and he used his PC (shudder) to make his mp3's play really fast, you know, like chipmunk style. Is there any free program that I could use to do this, or can I use soundjam (the full version)? My friends will laugh at me if my "dumb mac" can't even play chipmunk music. Stupid PC users just waste their time all day on their PC's speeding music up and watching pretty screensavers, ugh....

Open up the Mp3 in the QuickTime Player, and press the fast-forward button. Or, use any app which will play QuickTime movies with the standard movie controller, then control-click the step-forward and step-backward buttons to get a slider to control the speed and direction.

Audion can do this too. Heck, there's even a shareware app out there that lets you accelerate audio CDs.. God knows why you'd want to though.

How do you make songs play fast in audion? I tried holding the fastforward button, and that makes it play fast, but its really jumpy and it stays at normal pitch. I want chipmunk sounds, LOL!

Also, I can't get quicktime player to do that thing with the control click, where did you do that?

to speed up (or slow down) any song in audion (www.panic.com/audion) just go to the console and go to "Effects" and just click on speed and it allows you to chose anywhere from like super slow to really fast. should give you that chipmunk effect. see ya.

there is an app called "MPLAY" that is free and it has the capabilities to speed up or slow down the mp3. and you can permanently set it for that particular mp3 in the playlist if you wanted. i cant remember the web site right now, but i believe you can get it from www.versiontracker.com. if not let me know and i'll check further for ya
