After reading several reviews, and snooping around for prices, I have decided on purchasing a Canon ZR-10 MiniDV camcorder.
What is your opinion of this camera, guys? Anyone use it?
Also, it says it has "analog-in". Does that mean I can copy my old 8mm & VHS films onto this camcorder and it would be converted into a digital format? Is this advisable or possible?
Tnx.

I have a ZR10 and like it a lot. It's a good, basic home movie camera, and the small size is a plus. The controls are easy to reach and intuitive.
The analog-in means you can transfer your VHS stuff to DV tape, although I haven't had occasion to do this myself.
One tip if you do get it: when you release the zoom lever don't let it "snap" back to its regular position; this will produce an audible click on the tape.

For the money I don't think you can beat it.
I've shot mine in low light, daylight, sun, rain and fog. It's a good basic camera. You aren't going to get broadcast quality DV with it like you can out of some of the Sony DV's but then it doesn't cost near what they do. If you want something to shoot home movies on it's wonderful.
I do find the audio quality somewhat spotty. It can actually pick up the sounds of the tape drive in some situations and in others the subjects can be not terribly clear.
I've imported stuff from mine into iMovie 1.1 and it works as well and as easily as advertised. You need only buy a 4 to 6 firewire cable. Note - DV eats hard drive space like a linebacker at an all-you-can-chew buffet.
Also - the Best Buy salesman pressed me hard to buy an extra battery but I declined at the time. I find if you focus through the viewfinder instead of the LCD you'll have plenty of battery life and may not need a second battery.
EDIT
Neo - I just noticed your other post about a digital still camera as well. You'll need a second piece of hardware if you want to shoot decent stills. The ZR-10 will do stills - it burns a 6 second freeze frame to the tape - but it's a 640x480 resolution image. Not great in this day of Megapixel single shots.
