alright.. I apologize beforehand if I placed this in the wrong forum.

In the iTunes library...it lists Song name, Artist, Album..blah blah blah.. well it sucks that info out from the ID3 tag of the mp3. Well most mp3s don't have a complete ID3 tag.. so you just have an empy entry for that mp3 in the library with the mp3 file name as the song name.

Now, you can edit the song name - but unless it has a album name or artist name listed, you can't edit it. I've tried everything.. maybe I am missing something - which I wouldn't doubt. For instance. I've dloaded a couple of cure songs off napster I've been wanting to listen to for a while - two had complete ID3 tags..and I could even go in and edit the spelling mistakes of the album name and what not in the appropriate fields in iTunes by highliting "Artist" then clicking once..but as I said...if it's blank..you seemingly cant add anything.

If there is something I am missing. please tell me. Thanks!

~Eric

some mp3s just dont have id3 tags. i do all my tag editing with mp3 rage, which is far, far better then itoons/soundjam in that respect. you should be able to open the advanced menu, and select convert id tag, or in your case, add one.

There's someone in my head but its not me...

Highlight the song, and press Command-I. You can now edit the song information. The window that pops up is exactly like SoundJam's.

Let's direct the iTunes posts to the Multimedia & DV forum (no apologies necessary). Transferring this thread...

You may need to use the 'Advanced->Convert ID3 Tags...' menu option to allow all of the information you enter to be saved in the MP3 file.
