QT - picture to picture dissolves

Does anyone know what you need to make the QT "Movies" that are just pictures that dissolve from one to another, like what www.apple.com used to do on their main page.

I think (but I'm not sure) it's some special "codec" that is made for slide shows, because if it were an actual movie, they wouldn't load so quickly.

QT uses flash? right?
Is that what it is?

It's a guess, but I'd bet those were FLASH movies.
