I set up an animation in Photoshop, imported it into Final Cut, set up my sequence and rendered it... and it looks like crap. Blurry, pixelated, and colors shifted. Orig image was 300 resolution, and something like 1000 x 600 pixels. So, back into Photoshop, changed resolution to 72 and size to 720x480, ran the NTSC colors filter, reimported it, etc. etc. But still got the same result when i rendered it. Played with different resolutions a bit, but never got it right, and the process is too time-consuming to learn by trial and error.

Is there a magic formula for resolution and size to make it render the way it is supposed to look? Am i missing something obvious? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

www.kenstone.net might have the answer to your questions.

Just to make sure. Did you ckeck your renders on a TV monitor, and not in FCP on your computer monitor, right ? IN FCP it does look like crap, but on TV it should look fine.
