In case anyone is wondering, Sony MD player/recorders work with iTunes. No need for any software or anything, just a bit of patience. If you have the optical to USB convertor that comes with some of the machines then you can just plug straight into the USB port of your comp. I have a USB Cardbus card and it worked, so I would assume there is no way that anything else would not. The sound then is soley digital and in my case the speakers on my laptop didn't work while connected, but I am sure that on other machines it is different. Anyway, just watch for track changes, it didn't recognize all of them. So that is one way to take MP3's straight to MD.

Well I was considering a Creative Nomad Jukebox but since then currently run about $400...I just can't see myself spending that amount of money on something to play tunes...

Thanks for the tip, I think its time to go get a Sony MD player!

Don't forget that MP3 and MD formats use entirely different forms of data compression. So digital transfer or not.. Your music will have been compressed twice by the time it gets to your MD. Then un-compressed twice by the time you play it. This will degrade audio quality.

Just thought i'd mention that..

We use the MZ-R70PC. I think if you look for the PC after the name it usually means that it will work. The quality is not bad, that is for sure, however like the previous poster stated, it is compressed twice. It is a trade off. You can keep more music around on MDs than you can on smartcard media or the like.. I just thought that it was nice that it could be done. It still beats a tape player by a ton and is way smaller than a CD player, and recordable.
