Hi--
Looking for compatibilility on Digicams anyone has used with the IBM microdrives

I heard there is a 1GB microdrive; will this work with, say, a Canon 3-megapixel camera, like the 340mb microdrive does . . . ?

I noticed Kodak has some models with Compact Flash cards; will they accept microdrives, like Canon's do?

Any other mentionable cameras out there? I seem to be gravitating toward the microdrives, and not Sony cameras -- their memory sticks technology looks like it tops out at 128 mb -- thanks for your ideas.

Regards, JEB :]

I think they are fine in the canon d30, there was a problem with heat in the nikon d1, so it's a good idea to be sure.
They have some discussion on the microdrive at http://www.nikond1.net and I think IBM recently released a compatability chart, check their web site.

One of my coworkers just got the Canon G1 digital camera and the 340 Microdrive. It works. I think to the Microdrive is a Type-3 PC Card - meaning it is a certain thickness, so it's thicker than Type-1 (thinnest) & Type-2 (a little thicker). I'm not sure if the power requirements of Microdrives are greater than CF Cards (cause I haven't done the research).

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's related to the Microdrive, but his camera battery runs out in less than an hour of shooting with the Canon.

Whatever camera you have, make sure you get at least 1 extra battery for it.
