Would someone please tell me how to import from the DV camera to an external firewire drive. The external drive shows up on the desktop (btw how do you change the name of the drive from "untitled" to somehting else) but in imovie i don't know how to switch hard drives.
Thanks.

I don't have an external hard drive, so I don't know if this will work. But have you just tried "saving" your iMovie project to the external hard drive before inporting the video? I'm assuming iMovie keeps all the imported video in the same folder where your project is saved.

As for renaming your external Hard Drive... did you try clicking on the name twice below the icon?

iMovie and Final Cut Pro keep everything in a similar hierarchy automatically.

Your Project Folder that was defined at the beginning contains the Project Fle, which is really just the editing instructions you apply to a group of source files and then a sub-folder of source files. It's too bad that the project file formats are not interchangeable.

I had problems importing some files in FCP, but was able to do so easily in iMovie. Once they were on my mac, I just launched FCP, created a new project and quit. Then moved the iMovie imports into the FCP project folder. Away to the races from there on.
