I recently installed iTunes on my dad's G4 400, and it won't even launch. The menu bar goes blank like it's loading the app...but it never loads. We have to force quit it to get back to the finder. I've put iTunes on three other machines and have experienced no problems. While I wasn't there long enough to do a conflict test, I don't think that is the problem. Has anyone else had similar problems and found a work around?

I have the EXACT same problem on my grandparents iMac DV. I have also used iTunes on 2 other machines with no probs.

There must be an extension conflict somewhere, but I don't know what it is. I actually had iTunes working for a while on this 'puter. The only things that I have installed since then is a scanner and a printer.

I found some answers over at MacFixit...there have been numerous posts about UMAX scanner extension conflicts with iTunes. I've sent the message onto my dad, but haven't heard from him yet...I bet the scanner you just installed on your grandparents machine was a UMAX, right?

Yes, it was a UMAX scanner. Do you have the link to that page at MacFixIt?

Here's the link to the quick post forum where I found the info...
http://www.macfixit.com/ultimate/For...ML/000037.html

There are five pages there, I just went throught page five (the most recent). I didn't have time to go through every post. If you find anything new, let me know.
