DVD "Ripping"?

Hey all,
I just got a new Mac with a DVD Player. I was wondering if there was a way to "rip" DVD movies, etc. which I own. Like MP3's which I keep on my computer for use when I want; I would like to store my movies too, if possible (unless they're too darned big once ripped).

Any help or information would be groovy - thanks!
