I have been editing stuff from my camcorder in iMovie and then exporting it into quicktime .mov . The quality was not that great in email or small web files - with that amount of compression I didn't have a problem with that. However as a test I exported it into the largest file size (I've forgotten what they call that) and found that the quality is hugely inferior compared to what I am seeing in iMovie. The picture is quite blurred and the sound takes a bit of a hit, too (although that is not a real problem to me).

I was wondering if this is normal and the best one can expect, or whether there is another way to do it to achieve a good quality export.
Thanks for any input

If you don't have Quicktime Pro. Get it!
-Instead of exporting to QT.
-Save video in imovie.
-Open quicktime.
-(File)Open movie in new player.
-Save as - QT movie
- (Options)->(Video) and/or (Audio)
You can set your audio and video settings here.
Now I don't have time to explain best settings but you will get good results.
Quick suggestions
Video
Sorenson - Requires large files for smooth motion, colour is good
Cinapak- small files smooth motion, puts a haze over the screen
For best picture. If you can afford a larger file size go with sorenson at its best setting or it will turn out pixelated. If you need to get the file size down use cinapak at its least setting.
Use at least 15 fps
