I’m teaching a class where students will be using Final Cut (this case FC2) for the first time. I’m looking for a basic tutorial or walk through they can consult with. They just need to know the basics and the included tutorial is too much for what they are doing and what they need. Something like six to ten pages would be idea…very basic. I’m looking for recommendations. Thanks for the help!

Well, there's the tutorial included with FCP2- and there's always the stuff at dvcreators.net... as you say, these are really too much material for the purpose you have in mind.

I think you may have to distill information from these sources into a tutorial that meets your needs best. Most of the information out there well exceeds ten pages, so pick what you think are the most important points for your students, and write it yourself.

I know if I were doing it, I would want to cover:
  • The interface layout and tools.
How to import footage from the camera.
how to use the razor blade tool.
how to use the tracks layout.
    how to preview edited footage.
    how to export to camera.
how to export to iDVD / DVD Studio Pro.

In fact, if you make up this tutorial, could I get a copy of it?
Would you like help writing it?

Thanks,
Victor Marks
