The reason why streaming is looks awful is because of all you punks that are trying out QT4's streaming ability simultaneously...have you ever thought how the server on the other end feels getting about 5000 users trying to stream the same BBC broadcast at the exact same time...geez get real. Apple's got 3 test streams and all of you are accessing it at once and expect to get a constant 5.5k/sec on your 56k modem. And before you start whining about anything else, check to see if you have disabled your dumb 3rd party-extensions like "Billy Bob's Ram Hungry Crap Extension" and "Joe's Speed Enhancing Extension" (btw, for you who take everything too seriously those are fictional extension names). And you guys don't get it do you? QT4 Public Beta isn't just a fancy name...it's BETA. For those of you that don't know what beta is, it's an unfinished product that is undergoing testing. Apple released it so you guys could report bugs that aren't obvious. I think they know that the MP3s skip, they're not morons. You guys better wise-up about always complaining about MP3s skipping and streams looking weird.

I am in no way affiliated with Apple. I'm just average guy that seems to understand things clearer than most of you. I know, I know, you think I'm a wiseguy that has an attitude problem...and you're right. But have you looked at yourself lately?

Sorry...this is really not meant as a flame. I'm just trying to point out that everyone is complaining about the same things over and over again. And they are things that Apple is aware of.

QT4 Live streaming is multicast. So there should be no need for the server to ACTUALLY send out 5,000 streams at the same time. Multicast capable router will replicate the stream to its downstream. The end users can leave and join the multicast group via IGMP (supported in OT). Router to router could communicate with each others regarding multicast via multicast routing protocol like PIM.

However, it's possible that there are more streams then the amount the server (or it's uplink) can handle
