I know this is the dumbest FCP question ever asked, but I can't figure out how to make a clip split into two separate ones that can be moved around independantly. What do I do? This has to be really simple, I'm not getting it...

I assume you want to add a cut to a longer clip of video? just press the B key to access the blade tool. This will allow you to add cuts to video. If your press it twice, you access another tool that allows you to add cuts to multiple layers of video.

Garr, I hate using manuals. It's always hard to find what you want. It's easier to just let you guys answer my questions than to bother picking that thing up and actually thinking. After playing video games enough, you get used to not using them. I'll use it next time and not bother your highness.
