Can someone please tell me why Quicktime is so bad with MPEG1 files? To play them takes soooo much CPU time compared to any other formats, the quicktime player window won't drag in realtime properly, the controls are slightly sluggish, it's almost impossible to go to certain parts in large mpegs, etc...Quicktime is great, but why is the MPEG decoder so badly written? I have a K6-500 which plays MPEG's better than my G4 500 does. Quicktime has been like this for as long as I remember. A little while ago I heard something about Quicktime being bundled with MPEG4 codecs for encoding and decoding, with highly optimized codecs. Maybe it's just me. Who knows...
