QuickTime crashing/quitting as player and in browser

Yesterday at this time everything worked fine (am on Intranet with no Proxy configured); streams were great both through Netscape and as standalone player app. Now both keep crashing and quitting with Type 3 errors everytime I try to view stream(s) (e.g. Garbage, BBC). What to do? Feel free to E-mail idea direct... CB

I'm same person as TrueDoc but the WebBoard won't let me repost under that handle & password--here is update/reply to my own post:
found problem, Sound Manager extension somehow had it's "Date Modified" date changed to year 2039 (if man is still alive); changed it out with same extension from another system's installed QT 4.0b (correct date); all is well...

?How did that date get modified (installed in PowerBook G3 with goofy limited PRAM battery [stock]).
