Has anyone used the Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge? If so, what is your opinion of it?

own one, used it a lot, and I like it. I import VHS to iMovie and then usually on to iDVD. Old family tapes. Two thumbs up here.

I waited some time before putting my money down on an analogue/digital/vice-versa convertor, as it seemed there were three or four sensibly priced options.

The Bridge seems to be have the highest profile, but I noticed that some reviews mention a few niggles (build quality and issues with auto-sensing PAL and NTSC signals). By the same token, plenty of people seem to have no problems with it -- maybe it's worth checking out the support boards.

On the strength of the reviews and the fact that I use NTSC and PAL material, I went with the Canopus ADVC100. Absolutely no complaints -- plug and play in OS 9 and OS X, and really clean-looking video.

I own one. I purchased it because it was the least expensive way to add analog video capture capabilites to my Mac (from any S-Video or composite source).

Besides the price, other good marks go for its easy setup and use. It appears to the Mac as just another DV Camcorder so it works with all DV enabled apps. I've not had any problems with it the six months I've owned it.

My biggest gripe with the unit would be that the imported video tends to be darker than the source material. Strangly enough, if you export the same video back out the unit, it comes out brighter. This is fine when you want to edit video in your Mac and then output it back to tape.. but I tend to do a lot of video capturing for the web and my video needs to be brightened which can take a while.

there was a review in Macworld magazine about a year ago. I think it's still pretty accurate today.

I have this and most of the reviews are pretty accurate. As noted in some of the reviews, it sometimes switches mode like if you stop/rewind/fast forward but just hitting the mode switch fixes that. It does the job at a decent price but if I were to start over again, I'd pickup the Canopus ADVC100. Slightly more expensive than the Dazzle but the one I tried worked really well.

Heres a video I brought in using the Dazzle....
