The current applications for encoding and sending a live stream to MacOSX QT Server are the Apple QT Transmitter b22 and the Sorenson Broadcaster a7.
My setup is, G3/266 Desktop with MacOSXS installed. My "broadcasting" setup is a G3 400 B&W with a Sony DCR-TRV9 Digital camcorder in to the Firewire ports. Running 8.6.
I have been almost unable to support more than 2 or 3 clients on my LAN, and I think the primary reason is the DV audio. The Qualcomm codec is unavailable, and using Q-Design or MACE causes lock ups every time. Even without audio, it does not take long for either transmitter to lock up the machine. I have VM off on the Blue and White, Appletalk is off, and it has over 500 Meg of RAM.
On a good note, MacOSXS is so stable it is almost boring! Great job by Apple!
Can anybody offer any advice on getting a live feed reliably in to a MacOSXS box, using a FireWire camcorder?
Thanks...Please e-mail if you can!
