Hello,
I am importing DV into iMovie through a SONY Mini DV Deck,

My setup is: PowerMac G4/500DP 704MB Ram (230MB Allocated to iMovie)

3 Drives (all ATA66) two are 7500RPM (the one im importing the DV to)

Using Mac OS 9.2.1 (also tried Mac OS X 10.1 same problems...)

iMovie v2.1.1

When i try importing from camera i get alot of video artifacts, and some skipping audio, i have tired watching the video after its imported and the problems are present in the DV stream.

I have also tried a program called BTV and i get the same problems (actually it is a little better but still loss of audio at points)

I have tried running norton/speed disc/disc warrior, etc. no help.

tried with VM on and off same problems, even disabled all extensions except necessary ones, same problems.

anything else I should try?

thanks!

-Mike

Use iMovie in OSX.
I've noticed that all my iMovies look and import much better under X.
Must be that multitasking stuff

is that a possible cause?

Hi,

Have you turned AppleShare off? Other people have recommended this before when others have had the same problem.

Also, try updating your firmware to 4.28. Someone in the MacNN forums said that since he had updated his firmware ALL of his iMovie problems vanished. Could be worth a try.

Hope this helps,

Matthew

One other thought....make sure you turn off any virus software before using iMovie! Makes a significant difference.
