I've got a DV camera and an iBook .. I haven't used them together yet with iMovie but I'm gonna try to put together a few short videos of stuff that I'd like to put on my website.
I think you need Quicktime Pro in order to convert iMovies to the type of files that you can view from the web. Is this what I am going to need? Thanks in advance for any info.

iMovie has several preset export settings. you can generate web-useable files that way.
that said, i use quicktime pro for granularity in exports, and for its applescriptable features. well worth 30 bucks (or the grand i paid for final cut pro).
try iMovie's offerings. if they don't suit, upgrade to qt pro. you'll also get the browser plug-in enhancements with it. i find it a very versatile tool.

If you are going to go ahead and get QT Pro, do yourself a favour and buy Steven Gulie's 'QuickTime for the Web' instead - it's only about $10 or so more than the Pro licence and includes a CD with a QT Pro key for Mac and the other platform and more tutorial material than you could ever use. And don't be over influenced by the title - it's just as relevant for CD use, etc.
The new edition is out in a few weeks - check Amazon.
