Okay, this may seem stupid to some of you, but I haven't a clue 'bout it...I think one of my EE books may have some info on it, but I thought i'd ask you guys first.

So the sampling rate of encoded audio tends to be around 44.1 or 48KHz. That means there are 44.1k or 48k samples taken every second, of the audio stream provided, right? So how's the data for each sample stored? as in the height of each digitized sample is stored in 16bits, 32bits, some kind of encoding/modulation or what? 'cuz I'm interested to know how much bandwidth i need to send out 4*44.1 or 4*48KHz audio samples over USB, and how is the digitized audio sent out via USB in the first place. (I'm trying to look into info on making a USB 4.1 audio decoder)
TIA
