Hi all.

Hope someone can help. I've been digitizing movies and TV shows for a while now and burning them to CD for viewing on the road. I'm encoding them on a Mac and compressing them using the Sorenson 3 codec. They play fine in all my Macs (with QT 5), and in my wife's Win 98 PC. But on her laptop (running Win 2K) they don't play. Anyone know what's going on? Is this a problem with Win 2K?

Cheers

I run QT5 on a Dell Optiplex 500 on Win2k Pro just fine.
But it looks a lot better on my Macs

you need to download the correct codec.

Windows Media Player will not use that codec automatically - it isn't 'supported' by Microsoft.

I can find a link to the codec if you have trouble finding it.

Been there, done that with Win2000..

Nevermind...you're using QuickTime.

oops,brainfart.

hehe.

no problem. I actually figured it out last night: when I burned the CDs in OS X, somehow a space was inserted between the filename and the .mov extension. No other computers were bothered by this, but Win 2K would have none of it.

I have another issue kind of related.

I have a QTSS that streams fine to Mac and Windows - except for the Windows 98 machine in the office. This has Explorer 6 on it. However the Active X control is installed and I have stream QT from apple.com

The issue here is that the QT movie pops up - says it's connecting - the getting info ..... and that's it. it hangs there.

This only happens with movies streamed from my server, and only on this one machine with IE6....

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Cheers
