I have a 466 MB MPEG file, and i want to save the last 7 mins (the movie is 34 mins long). I've tryed selecting the last 7 mins and pasting themn into a new player window, and in this new player window there is the 7 minutes, but when i go to save it, it saves it as 466 MB, the same as the 34 min movie. Even if I copy 1 second of the movie and paste it into a new player, it will still save as 466 MB. I've tryed using the compression features and tryed exporting it, but none help at all. BTW this is QuickTime 4.0 Pro, does anyone know what to do or is this a bug?

Did you try working it backwards, meaning duplicating the original file, cutting off the excess and exporting it as (or «saving as» I never remember which one) as an autonomous file (self-contained)...That should do the trick...If in fact it's a QT 4 prob, copy a QT player to your HD from a previous version (as 2.5) but ONLY the player...You'll be in the 2.5 player but with all the 4 features, then try saving it all over again.

Tell me if this works!

Nope, doesn't work. I tryed "Play It Cool" too, but that doesn't help at all. Would Final Cut Pro be able to do something?
