I'm finishing a Mac/PC cdrom and need to include the complete autonomous QT4 installer for PC (not the internet related one that weighs about 400k). Been searching like mad, but since I'm on a deadline, I need it real bad!
Thanks Folks,

I have a QT4 installer CD for Mac/Windows and it has a 2.4M file named _Winstart.exe
would that be the file, and would that be the only file needed from the CD?
I am virtually illiterate when it comes to PC but I know that it's an executable file and it is kinda large.
your move, what's up...

Gawd that was fast wlonh! Thanks for such a quick reply.
I know the previous versions were known as QT32inst.exe or something, but that was for the 2.5 and 3 versions. The .exe file you have might just be it.Worth a try...

Oops, clicked reply too fast...
Think I could ask you to e-mail it to me? Or could I get it from somewhere?
Thanks again!

Aren't Apple a bit legal about QT4 at the moment, ie "no-one is allowed to put full installs on CD's unless they ask us really really nicely" ?
Might it be worth checking ?
If it is/isn't legally ok, please let us know (It's entirely possible it will be a problem I'll have to face in the near(ish) future).

well, i am sure i do not know Apple's position on such matters, but the CD i have is an Apple product CD, a cross-platform installer CD for QT4 only.

I found a complete stand-alone installer on a Communication Arts cd-rom...it consists of the installer itself (around 400k) and the larger installer cache, containing all the vitals.
As for the legal aspect, I don't think Apple would benefit policing that kind of practice (which is quite common) but rather make it easier for us by making the installer clearly available on their site...
Cya!
