On the Macworld forum there is a thread talking about a 1-h recording limit on the new Super Drives using DVD-Rs.

Do any of you guys have a comment on the veracity of this?

Just checked Apple's iDVD site. One hour is the max.

With DVD Studio Pro, there is no arbitrary one-hour limit.

You have to remember there is NOT a 1-hour limitation on the drive (or media). It is a limitation of iMovie, to simplify and speed up the process.

You can get DVD Studio Pro and make a movie as long as you want, so long as you compress it enough to fit in 4.7gig.

DVD Studio Pro will ONLY install on G4's which nixes any hopes of external DVD-R's and iMacs. (Unless somebody can figure a Gestalt trick for the installer...hmmmmmm)

There is also a suggestion that iDVD is compressing MPEG1 and not MPEG2 at all. The conspiracies abound!
