My brother has just got a 2nd hand Camcorder (a Sharp Viewcam, LCD display, digital zoom. He got it for next to nothing from 'a bloke in the pub'. We weren't looking to get one really). My parents took it away with them on a weekend car run, and want to 'edit' the video footage, so it makes more sense (less film of walls, people's feet, the car footwell, etc) the thing is that the Camera only has composite video out, the cam uses Hi8 tapes and so is pre Firewire tec.
So the question is what would be the cheapest/easiest way to get this footage into my Mac so I can edit it?

Editing using a combo of a VCR and the cam would be a serious pain in the ass.
