I've done a search through the forum and didn't find exactly what i want. I dl a couple bin files that have the mpg movie in them...spiderman.

What i need to know is how to go from the bin file to playing the movie in QT. A step by step would be great....with the programs to use. I extracted the mpg from the bin with gnu vcdtools....after that i'm lost. Can anyone help?

I think you will need Toast to mount or burn the .bin file to a CD.

Once you have the image mounted or burned, you can copy the .DAT file from the MPEGAV folder. The .DAT file is the MPEG-1 file you are looking for.

Ok I mounted the .bin file with toast. Theres three folders in that. They are labeled EXT, MPEG2, and SVCD. The only folder that has a file with any significant size is the MPEG2 folder. It has two .mpg files in it. AVSEQ01.mpg and AVSEQ02.mpg. I tried playing them in QT but nothing. I'm lost on what to do. the only .dat file is less than 1 MB.

vcdtoolsX can extract the mpg file from a .bin image.

You don't need to burn the file to disc. The reason it won't play is because the MPG file is in MPEG2 format (not MPEG1). Quicktime can not yet play MPEG2 files. For now you can use the free VideoLan client to view the file instead.
