Since I installed the 4.1 update on my rev A iMac, I keep loosing all sound from my machine - no error beebs or anything. Removing all quicktime extensions and rebooting solves the problem, but when I reinstal the problem comes back.
Has anyone else had similar problems, and is it possible to reinstall the previous version of quicktime to solve it?

if you have the full installer for the previous version (or earlier) then just install that, your MacOS CD should have a QT installer.
that should do it, i mean it worked (audio) before, right?

QuickTime 4.1 also messed up my ability to play Bugdom on my new iBook. Seems like either Apple or Bugdom is going to have to post an update to fix that, as this is quite embarrassing for the company. Nanosaur, a game by the same developer, has already got a patch that remedies sound issues causing the prog to crash under QT4.1

I have now fixed my problem, although it took me a while to sort out. I removed all quicktime 4.1 extensions + the control panel and reinstalled 4.03. This still didn't fix things, until I removed the Sound Manager extension, and then ran the 4.03 installer again.
Before I fixed the problem, I tried double click individual error sounds held within my system file - this gave error -201, which corresponds to 'NotEnoughHardware' apparently.

I too lost all audio for QuickTime files when I installed 4.03. I am using a Quadra 800 with 32 MB, System 7.5.5. Before QT 4 I had QT 3 and everything worked beautifully. Please help.
