Can't play entire movie

I downloaded a large (about 96 MB) music video. File extension reads ".mpg". Quicktime finishes playing the movie but I know that it only played about half of it. I know for sure that 96 MB is the COMPLETE video. So why is quicktime not playing the rest of the movie?? Please help
