I've got a G4 500mhz AGP Macintosh with a DVD-RAM drive and I want to know how I can use it to play DVD movies on my television. Do I need a particular graphics card? What about the audio part of the movie--does that require a separate card? Would the quality be the same as a DVD player?

Maybe some one can direct me to a "How-to Web Site."

It seems the DVD-playing PCI cards have passed on. You would need a video card compaitble with Apple's DVD player, that has a composite or s-video output that you can send to your TV. Of course this is built-in to powerbooks and does work.

But take my word for it, it is not worth the trouble, cost, and time to do this. Just go and get a $99 DVD player and you will be much happier. Why do you think Apple stopped putting DVD-ROMs in their desktops?

I hear the ATI Radeon has video out and DVD's look great on a TV. Plus you'd get a great graphics card too. For the sound all you would need to do is use the sound out port on the Mac. You might need some type of adapter to plug it into your TV/VCR, but nothing fancy.
